Over the course of 3 intense days (and a lot of pre- and post-work) Claire and I recently finished our project ZWISCHEN(T)RäUME(N) which is our way of dealing with the growing use of drones in the military as well as in the private sector. For our project the drone is flown to a public space where it then releases artificial rain to develop a new, poetic space. The person underneath the drone is enclosed in this rain and shielded from the ‘outside world’. ZWISCHEN(T)RäUME(N) uses the drone’s mobility and high flexibility to create temporary, poetic spaces in the grey urban environment.
Especially in today’s fast-moving urban landscape such transfigured spaces give the person living in the city the opportunity to escape the busy, hectic day-to-day life. They are offered their own, mobile space which manages to transform even the most dull environment into a different world.
