21 Feb task #1 in Ayutthaya

We decided to try our luck on Soi 2, the same street our hostel is located on. Earlier today we had arrived by train from Bangkok, visited Wat Phra Si Sanphet, and took part in the Chinese New Years celebration that took place on Th Naresuan Road.
Our mission took us to To-To House where we were invited to join a group at their table out on the street. Chloé, from Paris, Book and Mr. Lek took us in as if we had already met before. With Chinese dragons dancing and fireworks going off in the background we listened to stories in a charming mixture of Thai-English-French.
As the time went by we eventually found ourselves listening to Jazz played on Mr. Lek’s car sound system, having “nit noi” after “nit noi” (a little bit), and raising our glasses to “chokdee”.

Tonight we met a group of wonderful people, learned some basic Thai, and learned that, as long as we are open for whatever might come – we will have a great time!
Book had worked at To-To House and introduced us to her French boyfriend who she’s been with for almost three years.
Chloé is taking a year off between uni and work. She has already traveled through Europe, is now spending three months in Asia and wants to spend another three months in Oceania afterwards.
Mr. Lek – a true character! His English was simple but that didn’t not keep him from entertaining us with stories about his walkie-talkie (“if they call from Bangkok – I answer” – we never figured who or why they would call), how he doesn’t smoke but after some drinks he likes to enjoy cherry-flavored cigarillos, and would add “okay!” after every sentence.
